Why styled text uses more of your 280

X weights characters: those in basic Latin and a few punctuation ranges count 1, and everything else, including emoji, CJK text and all mathematical bold or italic letters, counts 2. TextForge applies the same ranges, so the count on each line matches the composer.

Accessibility on X

X’s own accessibility team has asked people not to write whole posts in fancy Unicode, because screen readers can announce each letter by its full name. Style a word or two; leave the rest plain.
