Why Roblox blocks some styles

Roblox runs all text through a safety filter designed to stop people spelling around blocked words, and unusual characters are a common way to do that. So the filter often replaces styled letters with hashtags. Phonetic letters like small caps and superscript pass more often than mathematical bold or script, but it can change without notice.

Can I get a fancy Roblox username?

No. Usernames only allow letters, numbers and one underscore. Display names also have strict rules. Try styled text in your bio or group description instead.

Why did my text turn into ####?

The Roblox filter didn’t recognise the characters and hid them. Try small caps or plain text.
